How to JB via bus
It’s actually very simple and cheap. From Singapore city centre, go to the Queen Street bus station and get on one of the buses. There are three choices, Singapore-Johor Express ($2.40), the yellow bus called Causeway Express I think, and number 170 which is cheapest and slowest. All of them are fine and no hassle.
Singapore Immigration: The bus will drive up to Woodlands for Singapore customs, where you get off with all your luggage and go through immigration. On the other side of immigration, you’re directed straight back on to the bus (if you take a long time, you’ll get on the next bus).
Malaysian Immigration: Then it goes over the bridge, and on the other side you get right back off again with all your luggage and go through Malaysian immigration. Then if you want to stay in the city centre, don’t get back on the bus, just follow the crowds and you will be directed into the huge City Square mall without even having to go outside.
Further up: Or if you’re going to Larkin terminal to continue your journey, get back on the bus!
